Ingredients

  • 200 g (7 oz) white rice
  • 250 ml (8,8 oz) water
  • 150 g (5,3 oz) sugar
  • 850 ml (30 oz) milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • desired toppings (fruit jelly, chocolate sauce, dried fruits, cinnamon, etc.)
  • Optional: 100 g (1 stick) butter

Directions

  1. Wash the rice in 2-3 water baths and let it soak for 1 hour to enhance the taste and texture of the rice.
  2. Bring 250 ml of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and add the pre-soaked rice.
  3. Let the rice boil until it absorbs all the water.
  4. Add the milk and let it boil on medium-low heat for 15 minutes while occasionally stirring to prevent stickiness.
  5. Add sugar and butter if you are using, and blend well so the sugar dissolves.
  6. Turn off the stove and add 2 tsp of vanilla extract.
  7. Add desired toppings.
  8. You can serve it immediately, or refrigerate it for a few hours to enhance its taste.
