Cinnamon Mulled Wine: A Festive Blend of Red Wine, Sugar, Spices, and Oranges, Creating a Warm and Comforting Holiday Beverage.

Cinnamon Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 750 ml (26 oz/ 1 bottle) red wine (ex. cabernet, merlot, feteasca neagra, semi-dry, semi-sweet type of wine-preferably)
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 aniseeds
  • 1 orange

Directions

  1. Put the wine to simmer on low heat.
  2. Add 3 tbsp sugar and blend so the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add 2 cinnamon sticks and 4 aniseeds and let the wine simmer on very low heat with the spices for a few minutes.
  4. Remove the wine from the heat and add slices of oranges.
  5. Add a lid over the pot of wine and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. The resting pause is necessary to increase the taste of the cinnamon mulled wine and allow the flavors to combine.
  7. Avoid adding oranges or lemons when simmering the wine with spices. It will add a bitter flavor to your beverage.
